I received this culivar directly from the Heimi Cheeba camp.

Heime got the Roadkill Skunk from a hippy couple from a commune in Albion Mendocino in the 1970s. When he got it there was no “skunk” in the name it was just called roadkill. The Skunk part came later in the 1990’s. He would do open pollination with it ever 3 years. Each time he used approx. 120-130 females and 11 or so males. So about a 10 to 1 ratio of female to male plants. Due to this type of breeding it has opened up the geno type within this strain. Heime also suggests the RKS lost some of it’s potency while he had it.

When Heime decided to release it to Todd McCormick, Todd turned around and made F2 copies, lowered the price, and sold them as fast as he could. Heime was concerned if he released a real stinker, you only release that once. He was concerned people would take it, rename it, and sell it. He also knew if he let out the best pheno it was over right there. So he did this 0pen pollinated, inbred line with lots of variety in it so people could go hunting.

The reason I downplay the RKS is because I have tried every RKS out there and none of them are the same as the RKS I smoked in 82-84. I wanted to be honest so people were not disappointed when they grew it out and it wasn’t as stinky as they hoped for. This is a great musky funky “roadkill” line with great pheno hunting potential.
